DMV Required (Points Awarded, if Eligible):
Drivers are considered DMV-required when they receive an official notice from the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) by U.S. mail or have a clinic requirement listed in their DMV compliance summary. These letters indicate the course is mandated by the DMV. Such requirements are typically issued to drivers under the age of 20 convicted of a traffic offense, drivers aged 20 or older who have accumulated excessive demerit points within a specific time frame, or individuals with suspended or revoked driving privileges. Eligible drivers may earn safe driving points upon course completion.

Court-Ordered (No Points Awarded):
Court-ordered drivers are instructed by a judge, typically after a court hearing. Notification is provided through a court-issued document or form letter. The court does not send clinic notifications by mail, except for continuances or postponements. No safe driving points are awarded unless specific conditions are met.

Court-Ordered with Points:
Drivers may receive points if they present qualifying court documentation before beginning the course—no exceptions.

Voluntary (Points Awarded, if Eligible):
Voluntary participants take the course for safe driving points or court preparation. Points may be awarded once every two years.

Insurance Reduction (No Points Awarded):
Drivers taking the course for insurance discounts must verify eligibility with their insurer. No points are awarded.

You may complete the course at your own pace by logging in and out as often as needed. However, you must finish the course within 90 days of your payment date. On the 91st day, your account will be permanently deleted without notice or refund. Please be aware that while we offer a 90-day window, the DMV or court may have imposed a separate deadline for completion. It is your responsibility to meet any official due dates. Failure to do so could result in penalties or additional requirements related to your driving privileges.

After you pass the final exam, your course completion certificate (DMV Form DIC 552B) will be emailed to you. Please note: The DIC 552B is created through a manual DMV process. Your certificate will be processed and delivered via email within one hour of successfully completing the course.

The course fee is $60.00 and must be paid through our secure online payment system. We accept PayPal and major credit or debit cards. Once your payment is confirmed, your Certificate of Completion (DIC 552B) will be processed and sent to you via email.

There are no special system requirements or downloads needed to take this online course. However, please note the following:

Additionally, JavaScript must be enabled in your internet browser to access certain course features. Most modern browsers (such as Microsoft Edge, Chrome, and Firefox) have JavaScript enabled by default, so no action is usually required.

  1. To begin, return to our home page and click on the "Sign Up" button or on the "Sign Up (New?)" link in our menu section.
  2. Select your course.
  3. Fill out the registration form.
  4. Review the information and click on the "register" button.
  5. The list of sessions will appear. Click on the "start course" button to begin learning!

No, you can log in, re-enter, and take the course using any computer with any type of Internet connection.

To resume your course, visit our homepage and click the “Log In” button under “Returning Student?” or use the “Log In (Returning?)” link in the menu. Enter your first name, last name, and date of birth, then click “Login.” Our student progress tracking feature ensures you’ll continue exactly where you left off.
